Georgia O'Keefe and Mark Rothko are my favourite artists. Georgia O'Keefe's sensual , erotic nature works are so intimate and so courageous for her time. Mark Rothko's meditative colour spaces draw me in and bring me to silence. They have such a strong spiritual dimension. In 'Sensual Abstractions' both these influences are visible. My intention is to bring the viewer into a state of being and feeling rather than into thinking about what they see. As in Tantra the body is transcended in order to reach higher realms. |
